Today I have finished my final evaluation question. I feel very happy with how all four of my evaluation questions have been answered on my half. I answered each one of them in essay format and then tried to think of an interesting way to present them. The formats include: Prezi Presenation, Powerpoint Presentation, Video with speech and images and a SoundCloud file. This presents that I am able to not only answer the questions but also present my work using different media platforms.

Diary #26
Today I have successfully uploaded my final draft of my music video!! All three of my products are not completed and I feel hugely content with how they have turned out. All three look as though they're from te same artist, all conveying the vintage 50's era and reflecting the artists innocent and carefree mannerisms.
I decided not to use the edit of my music video that had the sepia filter light from After Efects, as it decreased the quality of my footage, making it appear blurry and too bright. However, I do not regret experimenting, as it have made me feel as though I cannot improve my music video any more than I already have.

Diary #25
I successfully finished my anamatic this week. I had difficulties uploading it, as the file size was too big, therefore made it smaller on Adobe Premier Pro, which essentially takes away the quality, however at least it is still viewable, and it is clear I had planned my music video structure well.
Another thing I have been doing is sorting out my blog, I needed to make all of my labels more understandable, and clear. So now, it is easier to navigate around my blog. I created a 'Drafting' section on my blog, where all of my product planning and drafts are kept, making viewers able to see all the MANY steps i took when creating my Magazine Advert, Digipak and Music Video.
I am now busy creating my second and final draft of my music video. This is important as it is where I am taking in all the feedback I have gathered from my target audience. The element I am focusing on most importantly is lighting - which will be edited using filter lights on Adobe After Effects. I have gathered a selection of filter lights I feel fit the Sepia-like image I wish to create, and am now going to experiment with them to see which one looks best. One thing I will be doing also, is adding titling to my music video, such as the name of the song, and my name as director.

Diary #24
Today I have been very busy completing many of the tasks I still need to complete. I have written a list so i can keep up with my time management and ensure that everything is done for my deadline.
I still need to:
- Finish and upload my anamatic
- Do final draft of music video - add filter light to make a more sepia effect
- Continue with Diary posts
- Do evaluation questions
This is not very much, as I have separated my tasks so that i Have aims for each week. If i stick to the aims I have set, these tasks should easily be completed by my deadline.
Today I have uploaded a short video of photographs of myself filming on the Sony HD camera. This proves that my video is all my own footage and my actors were directed by myself.
I have also uploaded my final two Music Magazine Adverts to my blog. I created both a landscape and portrait copy in order to be able to use the advert in places like billboards and bus stops.
I am currently in the process of uploading my first draft of my music video, as I had to make the file smaller as Blogger wouldn't let me upload the original copy I made.

Diary #23
Today I decided to make a list of remaining tasks I have to complete, this will help ensure that I keep up with my time management and also my deadline of March 11, for all of my work to be in.
Today I began to complete these tasks, by creating a video on Adobe Premier Pro. It is a video of the photographs taken at the film shoot. The photos show myself using the camera, ordering my actors, setting up scenes. This makes it clear that all the footage was shot by me and also legit in terms of copying and originality. The video also includes an image of myself and my cast after the filming was over, as I feel it's important to portray I have a good relationship with my actors and they were happy to participate.
The videos I create that show this sort of footage, including my raw footage video are all accompanied by Indie Folk music, this is because I am constantly reinforcing my inspiration and the genre my video is attempting to portray.

Diary #22
For the past couple of weeks I have been very focused on finishing the first draft of my music video. After successfully filming it, I have been spending a lot of time editing it on Adobe Premier Pro. To do so I had to export all my my footage from tape to digital, then import it to the programme I am editing it on. I decided to go through my shots and decide what shots i will be using and what ones are badly shot, or lit. I then changed all the names of each clip, so that the editing process would be easier.
I have put all the shots together in a way that is paced well with my song "People Help The People". They show my main artist walking through the woods and then arriving at a house, having an argument with what the audience will assume is her mother and then running away. The video has a tragic ending, in order to suit the sad style of music and conotate the lyrics of the song, which talk about caring and how there should be more of it.
I have exported and am now going to focus a lot of my time on editing it on After Effects. I will use this programme to edit the lighting with filters and perhaps add some special effects. Either way, I am very happy with my first draft.

Diary #21
After gathering photographs from locations after my filming of the music video, I managed to have a clear idea of what photos should be used for my Digipak and Magazine Advert.
I successfully created both products after two to three drafts of each one. If i feel unhappy about both products or either products later on, I might adapt and change them.
For both i gathered feedback in order to ensure that my products appealed to my target audience.
All photos on both products were taken by myself.

Diary #20
I have been extremely busy filming my actual music video this week. I had to wake up very early and begin the 'Hair and Make Up' process of my artist. I looked at YouTube videos and researched into how to create 50's make-up. This was important as mise en-scene is essential in the creation of any product as it is what makes the actual product visually appealing.
I then went to the woods in reading and walked around until i found a number of places i felt was suitable to film in. This is where the actual production of the filming took place, sometimes taking varies takes in order to ensure each shot was useable. I tried to be adventurous with the shots I took. Taking some in the reflection of water, others through sunlight. All making my music video appear more professional
I then traveled to Basingstoke to my Uncles house, in which i filmed the next sequence of my music video. Here we worked outdoors ensuring we captured the emotion and sad situation of the character being kicked out by her mother. We tried to portray this from both viewpoints, therefore some shots are shown from the main characters POV, and others from the mothers.
As the light began to dim, we got some shots of the windows, and of the mother looking through them, in order to highlight the sadness from both characters sides.
Thankfully, there were no problems in terms of weather or accidents.

Diary #19
Today i have completed my music theory research. I decided to look into the theorist Andrew Goodwin as he has some interesting concepts on how audiences use and perceive music videos. Not only did this further my knowledge on music videos and the industry itself, but it also gave me an insight on what aspects are important to think about when creating my music video, for example the technical elements that audiences look out for and what i should do with them in order to make a successful music video.
Another thing i did was the structure of my music video, in the form of a timeline. This appeared to be more helpful that i expected. This is because it allowed me to make a clear table of which shots will be used in my video and when. Although this had already been considered in the form of a story board, I created a structure in this way as it made it clear to me what parts of the narrative will be used and how long each of those sequences should be. For example, by creating this, i discovered that my reverse shot editing should be 40 seconds, although the shots add up to at least 1.17 seconds, i must put a speed up effect on them, in order to crunch that down to 40.

Diary #18
For the last couple of lessons I have been concentrating on my story board. This is what i will use to guide me when doing my actual film shoot for my music video. I am very happy with the shots I have come up with, however i have no doubt that when actually filming my music video I will think of other creative shots and angles to experiment with. For example, i might see the sunlight beaming through the trees and decide to add that to my music video, however i can not put that on my story board yet as i do not know what the weather conditions will be like on the filming day.
To create my story board i printed 15 story board templates. Under each photo i have drawn i have written: the length of the shot (most ranging between 2-3 seconds), what is happening in the shot (so when it comes to filming i know how to direct my actor), the type of shot (for example, long shot), the angle of the shot (for example low angle) the type of movement in the shot (for example tracking, panning etc...) and also the sound (the song, sirens, breaks of the car).
To ensure the shots i drew fit into my indie/alternative folk genre I watched the actual video of "People help the people" - Birdy (which is the song I'm using in my music video). After watching this i had inspiration about using slow motion in a lot of my shots, to make the video less jumpy and more smooth and graceful, like the artist. However, when watching it i realised it is completely different to my idea, which i like a lot as it makes me feel as though my narrative is completely original.
Another thing i did when creating my story board was listen to the song over and over again. I would look at the length of the shots i had created and count as the song played. This allowed me to have a rough acknowledgment of how long each shot needs to be, and how far along in the song i was. This enabled me to create enough shots to fill the length of the song.

Diary #17
Today I have been thinking about my locations, after taking a trip to Reading as part of my reasearch, I am positive that is where i want to set my music video. The beautiful country lanes, secluded forests and large cottages make it an ideal place to shoot an Idie Folk music video. It fits the critiria perfectly, as well as giving me inspiration for possible shots i could take as an extra.
I created a prezi showing my main three locations for my music video. In this includes: the cottage, the country lanes, forests (haughurst hill). This helps to show what sort of feel i want my music video to have. As well as giving me a visual to work with for my story boarding.

Diary #16
Today i completed my first planning design for my digipak. First i drew a rough sketch on A4 paper of the four pages i wish to use withing my digipak. I experimented with design, by including a gold photo frame around the front and back page. I feel this will be effective as it will help to make my artist's image vintage and historic, which is what i wish to do.
I looked online at the type of photo frame i wish to use, and got an idea using google images. However, this is not my final design. I plan to make another planning design. This is because i feel i might be able to come up with a better idea, perhaps after creating my music video i will have shots i wish to use.

Diary #15
Today i am thinking about how i can develop my research into the target audience of my music video. I feel as though the audience is the most important element when creating a media product. And in this case, with music, audience is very specific. I am going to create a video questionaire, asking lots of different people within my target audience, what they like, who they like, where they go in their spare time and so on. I feel this will give me more of an insight on how to create my music video in a way that'll be successful with its target audience.
Diary #14
Today i analysed the song lyrics of the song i am using for my music video. This was extrmemely helpful as it allowed me to achknowledge the kind of shots i might be able to incorperate into my music video. I found that the lyrics of my song actually fit perfectly with the storyline of my narrative. Words like "save me" "knocking" and "drunken eyes" will all allow me to emphasise the sympathy i wish the audience to feel for my character. It will also enable me to have interesting shots, such as extreme close ups of the girls eyes with dialated pupils etc...
Another thing i did today was write up a brief props list using prezi. This allowed me to think out side the box about things i could use in my music video to make it more interesting. I came up with bubbles, glitter to emphasise freedom and a careless attitude. In contrast to bags of clothes and car keys thrown on the floor, to emphasise the girls lonliness after being kicked out, and the keys on the floor will represent the panic of the driver that has just hit the girl.

Today I have decided to think about who my target audience is. This information will be gathered using my previous audience profile I have made. I am going to look into the way Indie Folk/ Alternative music influences their audience and who their audience is.

Diary #12
I decided I had done enough research for now, and will come back to it later. As it is getting on in terms of time and I feel as though Planning is very essential. Therefore, I began by sending Birdy an email. This was basically just to show that I had considered copyright issues and was aware that her song is not mine to use or mess about with, so I asked her permission if I could use it.
I then created a spider diagram for all my initial ideas. This is just so that I could get all of my work onto a page, and put my ideas out clearly, allowing me to adapt/change/develop them. I will be able to add to this diagram and think about what works and what doesn’t. This is being used as a guidline for my production work.
I am now working on my mood board. I decided instead of using photos, I would create a video on Adobe Premier pro. I am getting videos off YouTube, converting them into downloadable videos, and then adding them to my mood board. This is just so that I can have a selection of songs and images that show the sort of image I wish to portray in my music video.
Diary #11
This week I have been looking into digipaks. Before this project I was not even sure what a digipak was. This is because they are rare and are not seen as much. They are more expensive to create and some people would just prefer a CD as they thing that it is what is on the CD that counts, not what the CD is actually in. However, by researching them I have discovered they are actually seen as very valuable. And are often considered as collectables for real fans. This made me feel as though it will be more valuable making a digipak than making a CD.
Another thing I have been doing this week is looking into how Music Channels come into being. By researching channels like MTV and Viva it made me realise what they look for, and what their audience look for to be entertained. It gave me a better feel for the actual music industry.

Diary #10
Another thing i have been doing this week is having a greater interest in my actual song choice for my music video. I have been studying all the artists i was considering using and have conducted that Birdy is the best music artist for my music video idea. This is ebcause she is young, mellow, peaceful too (which will contrast with my tragic narrative) and also iconic, as at only 12 she began a music career that has touched the world.
I was studying songs, and was stuck between 'Shelter' and 'Help The People'. This is because 'shelter' might be good as it could represent how the girl in my narrative was killed due to lack of shelter. However, by studying the lyrics of 'Help The People' i found they relate more to my story, and my using these lyrics, i might be able to illustrate the lyrics better. For example 'drunken eyes' i could use a shot of the girls eyes in my video, as she began the video drunk.
I did a prezi that was showing research of Birdy. I looked into ther background of her life, what influences her, how she got to where she is. As i felt by having this knowledge i could get a better idea of how to conduct a video using her voice.

Diary #9
By studying the influences on Indie Folk music, i have gathered more knowledge on the type of visual look my music video must acquire. The images that stood out to me most were location images, such as forests, beaches, sunsets etc... This has given me a clearer idea of where i might set my music video and the way i might begin to film it. Starting with the sun coming up, but using editing to speed it up so it has a more postmodern feel, for example.
I looked into the influences of my artist's music genre by creating a mood board on PowerPoint. This is because i feel images are a greater way of learning and help me to identify differences in this genre in comparison to others. After gathering all my images and scattering them on a page, i began writing about them. Looking at them all, i could see links, in the instruments used, the image of ther artists and etc...
Doing this it hjas helped to have a clarer image of the mise en scene i wish to create in my music video.

Diary #8
This week i have been busy researching Robert Hales, a famous music video director and movie producer. I decided to look at him as he directs a number of various music videos, that are all from diferent genres. Such as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Snow Patrol. By researching him, i have identified different ways of directing videos. And how the genre of the music has a huge impact on the microelements that are applied.
I have looked into how i might use some of his styles of editing and directing, which has helped me to get more of a visual idea of how my music video might look.
